At Tumaini La Maisha, we believe that every child deserves joy, hope, and the chance to dream—especially those bravely fighting childhood cancer. That’s why we are incredibly proud to introduce our new programme Make-A-Wish Tanzania, which we launched in Feb 2025 in partnership with Make-A-Wish International. TLM is proud to be the implementing partner and first affiliate in Africa, dedicated to granting life-changing wishes for children undergoing treatment.
A wish is more than just a fleeting moment of happiness but rather renewed hope, motivation, and the courage to keep fighting. Wishes provide emotional healing, reduce stress for families, and create lasting memories that inspire children long after their treatment ends.
What is Make-A-Wish?
Make-A-Wish is a global organization that has granted over 550,000 wishes worldwide since 1980. Now, for the first time, children in Tanzania will have the opportunity to see their dreams come true, thanks to the launch of the Make-A-Wish Tanzania program.
Every wish granted is a powerful moment of transformation. Whether it’s meeting a football player or becoming a princess for a day. Each wish brings the kids joy and strength and is tailored to the child’s deepest desires.
Our First Wishes in Tanzania
Since TLM launched, the Make-A-Wish Tanzania programme we have already started granting magical wishes that have transformed lives:
- Farhiya’s Wish – Got a beautiful princess like dress Farhiya, an inspiring 10-year-old undergoing cancer treatment, dreamed of having a very beautiful princess like dress with a matching purse. Her wish was granted as she made a trip to the store and chose her very own dress!
- Kuyela’s Wish – Own his very own Simba SC jersey Kuyella, a brave 11-year-old with a deep love for football and Simba SC, he always wanted to own his own Simba jersey and meet his favourite football player. His wish not only got him a jersey but also the chance to meet his favourite football player and watch his favourite team play and the national stadium.
